Day 3.
It was christmas day. I've been to London on Chirstmas Day where everything was shut closed, but not New York. There were still traffic, and millions of people buzzing the city centre and Times Square. The weather was beautifully sunny. We headed to the city earlier before hazim as he was still asleep. We thought of walking around enjoying the weather and meet up later during the day. Although the main aim was still to get to Statue of Liberty, and we were told by the tourist info that it's open.
Views of the UN building, Times Square and sights of Manhattan on a lovely sunny day.
The Brunei Embassy and the UN Headquaters.
If you love ER, Scrubs, Friends and many American series, this is the place!
Times Square during the day.
We finally met up with Hazim later that day and we headed off straight to Battery Park for the ferry to Statue of Liberty. However, to our disappointment, it was closed. Thanks to the wrong info the tourist info had given us! Not wasting the time and energy, we diverted our journey to Staten Island instead where there's a free ferry service across.
My happy face on the lovely day.
At Battery park and Maritime Museum.
Statue of Liberty from a far.
On arrival at the Staten Island, we didn't know what to do and it was very quiet. The Island itself is close by to neighbouring places like Brooklyn and Jersey, accessible by major transports and bridges, including the Brooklyn bridge. We only spent about 20mins to see things around, and it was more of a shipping place it seems.
Brooklyn Bridge.
New York skyline.
We ended the day back at Times Square spending time at MTV store, and Madamme Tussaud's.
Day 4.
The plan : Statue of Liberty (3rd attempt) and the United Nations.
The sight that is very familiar to many of you, the UN main conference room!
Bruneian flag at the UN.
We arrived at Battery Park about 2pm, and the queue was very looooooooong!!!! It was announced that it will take 2 hours at least to wait. Very eager, we decided to wait in line. Too bad, an hour later, we realised we were in the line of ticket holders! Persevere, we split, I joined another queue, whilst Nurul went to get the tickets. Again, tickets alone will get about 2-3 hours! We thought, there's no way we'll make it on time before sunset. We declined, and decided to start mini shopping, and perhaps a theatre at Broadway.
Since we arrived at Times Square slightly earlier before the sunset, we took the chance to push ourselves forward to the Central Park. The park is so Huge! We only managed to cover half way through the park, but not even half of the attraction sites around Central Park.
Boxing Day Sale scenery! Teeth to teeth pack along 5th Avenue!
Central Park.
Frozen lake.
Metropolitan Museum of Art.
My first American Hot Dog.
Day 4.
Finally made it to the Statue of Liberty. The day was extremely cold and foggy. We had to endure all these just for the fact that it's the STATUE OF LIBERTY and this was the 4th attempt!
Me eating churros, a spanish doughnut and even yummier eaten with chocolate dip! Too bad I didn't get to eat as much as my tummy was always full!!! It's US$3 per stick by the way. ahaha
Tribute to the Maritime Museum.
The ferry that took us to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
Close encounter with Statue of Liberty.
Ellis Island, the entry point for Immigrants before entering New York, USA. This museum was once a quarantine place and immigration point.
Day 5 and 6 was filled with shopping and of course, back to UK on the 7th day.
I tried this aquamassage at Queens for only $12 for 10mins. Simply lied down on my tummy, and this coffin like machine will blast jet powered water to mimic massaging hands.
The White Castle burger restaurant. Remember Harold and Kumar the White Castle?
More Hot Dog with mustard and ketchup.
In the Trump Tower.
Me acting crazy packing for UK... maybe the effects of empty pockets!
Sunrise at JFK Runway.
