What's Universal? English?

What is Brunei without people who are never satisfied? But we all are human beings, prone to disatisfaction and complains. Here's what happened last two weeks. A "brilliant" writer came up and wrote "the O'Level English in Brunei is meant for native speakers and not suitbale for our local pupils, and that the standard should be lowered" - along those lines. This triggered many other Bruneians to disagree. Many blogs have started to discuss about it including my kembangs KUMBS. She nudged me and asked bla bla bla... it was around 1 or 2am in the morning. While she was questioning me, I bombarded her with lots of opinions. I though why not put it up on opinion page. A week later (which is today) it is published on today's paper!! ahhahaha

Lowering standards is not the answer

Brunei is once again in a state of World Cup frenzy where all international football giants and fans gather for a common aim - the World Cup victory in the name of football.

At the same time, while after months, outbreaks like HFMD and Bird Flu are slowly becoming history, Brunei is once again being introduced to a new chapter of issues where the O' Level English has come into focus.

Why must this be happening in the first place?

Brunei has one of the best education systems in the region.

This can be seen as our qualifications are widely acceptable worldwide and the Brunei Cambridge GCE 'O' Level English is no exception. It acts as a passport for one to step forward in life such as employment and further studies.

For decades this has benefited many of our Bruneians to fluently converse, comprehend as well as writing in English.

The English language is universal. It brings international parties to a common language usage. One does not have to be genetically "English" to learn and articulate in English.

There are many factors that influence one's ability to do so. Like any other subjects, practice makes perfect. Looking back at many opinions raised so far, to say that 'O' Level English in Brunei is only suitable for English native speakers, is quite wrong.

Why do we need to downgrade the current standard when it is at its best?

What the authority needs to look at is the way the English Language syllabus is being carried out, the effectiveness of the teaching aids, methods as well as the quality of teaching personnel.

Are they up to standard to facilitate the GCE 'O' Level English candidates to grasp the art of mastering English Language at the same time passing the exam?

If facilities are in an acceptable condition then it is time to see the students' lifestyle and environment. Do they use the language fluently and read English books adequately?

Are parents making an effort to support their children learn English?

If so, but students still failed the exam, then the 'O' Level exam might not suit that particular individual's capability.

However, that does not justify for the standard to be downgraded and will not solve the problem at all.

A better suggestion would be providing struggling students with extra help and more alternatives in addition to the available English exams such as the IELTS and other few alternatives if one needs proof of English competency.

The point that I would like to make here is that there are alternatives to lowering the standard of 'O'Level English in Brunei.

The current system is still here today because there are solid reasons behind it.

In this regard, I hope the authority concerned would understand we have the best sytem going for our students and strives to improve it instead.

Last but not least, the Borneo Bulletin should also be acknowledged for successfully providing the nation with English reading materials all these years.

It is indeed time that Bruneians realised we are counting on progress and not regression, to take us to the highest possible standard in everyday living.

No pain, no gain, mate!

If topics like SARS, HFMD and bird flu can go obsolete, and then the idea of lowering down English standards in Brunei must surely have come from an obsolete thinker.

From the Weekend Borneo Bulletin, June 24th 2006.

My say is that, dont blame the floor or the music if you cannot dance!!!! Why blame the standard which is considerably low, but change the perspectives of our Bruneians and learning/teaching techniques.

Peace!

Lazy Bum Lazy Bum!

I've been a lazy bum, hence the lack of updates here. I've been soo buruk sampai talur masin pun rotten pakah ku jaruk!

Today I've made a record again, I did not shower! ahahahahaha. Jimat air bagi Brunei tanah air tercinta ku!

Past week socialise quite a bit. Met Jimbo for the first time at Riviera Cafe along with Solinis (Nisa) and her hubby wubby jiwa raganya... Sham. We had a smashing night. It was when England Vs Paraguay match! ahaha.. gosh.. the game was I soo dont know. So make me paning. They were loads of people at the cafe with high football spirits and kejiwa mental nya ah!

Then the following Sunday, had a small gathering with my frens as a graduation get together. I knew I supposed to do it earlier, but what the heck. There were loads of foods and laughters. Hhaha.. Eda was soo amazingly BLONDE!!! hahhaa... So she was telling me with her master future plans... and yeah we decided to survey all the banks here in KB. And we did the next day.

Early morning, picked Eda and headed to Shell HQ and picked up Cathy. Had lunch at Riviera. It was great. Then came a master plan from mister ME!... "guys... let's watch movies.. at OGDC"... "I wanna watch cars" says Cathy... "but i wanna watch Xmen3" says Eda.. and I agreed. So to be fair.... I agreed to both of them.. let's watch both movies! ahahahahhaha... at Empire it was. That night we had tons of fun and laughters. 1am was still young for us. While waiting for Cathy to finish work, we lepaked moi nam for 4 hrs!!! Flat jubo ku slajur!

Currently, I am overwhelmed by all the letters I have received from University and all. I enrolled myself to the student intranet and I got myself an uni email addie. Went around trying the featured services. Came across the BOSS and emailed her to say hi and all. Hope she replies it soon!! ehehhe.

Gonna start arranging my medical arrangements and Hepatitis Screening etc. Gosh.. will have to start injection lagi. Gonna be hectic soon.

Last Friday, went to the Gym studio for 2 hours of cardio latin and aero dance! Mati kapisan ku eh. Nyasal ku.. ahah it's all my ego to be blamed! ahaha. I was dredfully karing! The next day what did I get? DAMAM!!!! over strain! So ladies and gentlemen... the lesson is.. ego can kill! ahahah.... But it was fun.

Ok... the verdict of the Bank surveying (on bank loans for Education purpose):

  1. HSBC - 5 stars for both customer service and products.
  2. BIBD - I asked at IDBB 3 Generous stars for customer service but not facilities!
  3. Standard Chartered - half star - stupid customer service, although friendly but stupid and stupid products!!!!! totally discouraging.
  4. Baiduri - Dont even think! It's all down the drain!! Useless personnel, not professional, and stupid product offerings!!!!!!!!!!! PALOI!!!
Ok... aku palau udah ni! ehhehe ciao!

Town bloopers!

Today I was a driver to Madamme Cathy! ahhha.. bleh. But I had jolly good time driving. At least that kept me awake rather than being a couch potato! Had good lunch at WyWy and tea with Pinky. Had a chat session with Pinky regarding future plannings.

Later on, went to town to get few DVD's. Parked a lil far than the targeted spot. After I got my DVD, arrived at my car, got the ticket and BOOM.... I couldnt open my car!!! Could be my remote said I! Then I saw a blue cartoon character tissue box! HOLY CAMOLEY!!! It's aint my car! ahahahaha.... then dengan muka selamba... aku menjadi tontonan umum di Kuala Belait! ahahaha...
I couldnt stop smiling myself and I rushed to my car which was like 6-8 cars away! ahhaha.

As of today: printer got dead and no spare part! and best of all I got embarrassed! ahaha

Ciao!

Karma - what you plant is what you get as a fruit.

Greetings my readers.

Today woke up with a shocking news regarding death. Cleaned myself and got ready while waiting for mom and sis to come over. Later on I came to think whether I should go or otherwise. Then finally decided to go.

SIS: eh ikut tia ko ani?
ME: awu eh... karang aku mati nada orang aga aku! ahah...
SIS: tau pun.

So yeah, we should rajin attending invitations unless we really couldnt make it, funerals cos that's the last respect we could ever give to those who died and as a respect to the grieving family and friends as well.

I always hold onto this principle of KARMA, you do good, and people will do you good. It may not in instant but sooner or later without us realising you get back on what you have done to others.

Another thing that kept me thinking is how inconsiderate humans can be and why can't they have that a little respect out of them for a moment. I felt bad looking at people standing at the funeral giggling and talk about business and the joys of their life! I cant believe people would do that during a funeral while the dead body was still lying around! It should be moments of mourning not BBQ party for someone's triumph.

I do not against people gather around and talk to each other during funeral, nor do I against them to laugh within the limits as in just smile to that extend. But laughing like in a party is just too much while that someone next to you is sobbing crying over their loved ones. What were they thinking? Coming just to show you sympathise on the outside but not to empathise the grief one has. And again, if they wish to speak about anything else, do it in a low tone or wait till the body left the place in peace.

I thank god and being grateful that I had to see all those as to aware myself. I am posting this as I couldnt find any ways I could express the above and at the same time to share amongst us all.

Remember, what goes around comes around. It may sound cliche' but do trust the saying. Things happen.

Sani Kamis.

Intra-Jobless Experience.

Hello blog and all readers. Thank you for reading. So let's get back to the title on what I've had so far being unemployed.

I've been eating jolly good food all these time and I am not happy about that! ahahah.. My weight now is *censored* which makes me 6kgs heavier than I am used to in addition to my already WEIGHT!! So clinically speaking I have around 10-12kgs to reduce as I am "not proudly" OVERWEIGHT. Some disagreed for me to go for weight loss, but seriously I have to. My body frame deceives the eyes!!!

Right, Brunei's weather is kind of wacky around these days now. We have had countless blackouts including the longest yesterday which was about 7 hours! Hell yeah it irritated me in so many ways! At night, it went blackout again, what did I do? I had this theory of "being full makes you sleepy". So went to the kitchen and tortured myself with a nive yummy tasty homemade burger!!! ahah so I ate that with a snap eventhough I already a big dinner before hand. Here's the result of the burger made in the dark. Burnt bun but it was all GOOD!!!!

Miri Was a BOMB.

Let me take you to the journey that I will cheerish in my memories! ahahaha. It was last Sunday 14th MAy 2006. It was Mother's Day too. We left KB around 9.40am. Had breakfast before we took off at DKM. Each of us had a serving of dim sum. US = DingY and PhantomS.

Wassap in Miri? Well first, ronda kadai macam tourist hantap. Then stopped by for a pure chocolate at the newly opened Coffee Bean! The place was much more cosy than the one in Gadong. But kerusi nya mihir! ahahaha.

Then went to Taman Miri. This is where the fun began!!!! hahaha.. So DingY and PhantomS took the hanging bridge pathway while I took the bumi yang nyata way! aahaha

At this place, there was a water playground. Sort of like a pond or man made lake whatever, skali I was just to cuci my kaki. BOMB! Guess what, I slipped and fell into the water!!! GILA... I was soaked in water head to toe ani bah. My passport, wallet and money, mobile phone all wet!!

What did the two do? Be hero and heroin you say and save me? NO WAY! they laughed till their heads off!!! KEJAM!

Then after that we went to Boulevard with me all wet! ahahaha.. I dont give a damn!

Ok here are the pictures. hehe

Mobile phones.

I'm having my insomniac time again and Lilac popped in. She was asking about what phones I have had which brings to the blog tonight or this morning. Here it goes.

  1. Nokia 6110 - sister gave this to me and she bought in the UK. It made me the only person to have a mobile phone when I was in form 4. She bought me this phone as a gift and to ease her to get in touch as we were always away from home. This phone lasted for quite sometime until I finished my A levels. (Still in phone package for remembrance)
  2. Nokia 8310 - I thot I had to buy a new phone and I was jobless waiting for my nursing enrollment. Sister bought this phone but she didnt like it, bought from her for only $200. It was priced at $500-600 in the market at that time. (small, nice interchangeable casings) (State now - Traded in)
  3. Siemens S40 - A phone that looks like a remote controlled. Sister bought this in the USA. She gave to me as my phone was dead. Caight few attention but didnt like it very much. (state- cupboard)
  4. Nokia 6510 - Several months after I got into nursing, I started earning my own allowance. But I didnt botehr getting a new phone. However, phone got suckyas 8310 was a famous for it's hang and automatic restart problems. Phone condemned and used my sister's idle 6510 phone. Used it on alternate basis. (State - mom used it but not anymore - I dont know where it is... last seen last mth)
  5. Nokia 5100 - I got rich by earning months of allowance. I was already in Semester 2. Polyphonic ringtones were the in thing. I needed to get one. Heart fell onto 5100 and traded in problematic 8310 for $100 on the $650 5100 series. Rare species on the market as well among the users. I had it with pride until 3mths with me. Brought it to the pool and sunk in the water. (state- physically looks good but not useable, dead)
  6. Nokia 3660 - Camera phone was the next in thing. Mostly had 3650 sistership of the new generation 3660. Difference was the keypad. I like the idea of proper keypad on 3660 and better functions. So bought it on one afternoon since I like the camera. Handled it with care and love, vainity starts to erupt like volcano activity.
  7. Nokia 7610 - Sleek and modern plus it looks good on metro look. I fell in this too since it looks more sophisticated and 1mpxl camera (the first megapixeld camera on a phone). Better functions and competed with 6600 owners. I was the one of the very few in the college to have this. It was all due to hatred which led me to buying this on a last day of Ramadhan. New Soon lee Mall was newly opened. (state - sold to DingY)
  8. Sony Ericsson V800 - Era of 3G started. I thot I must follow the trend. Bought this for $970 yes.. almost $1k!!! ahaha.. Just to comply with 3G requirement. I liked this phone pretty much and it has 1.3mpxls camera. I had two phones running concurrently until 3G service started to suck. Used the phone only with GSM line while 7610 was off to DingY. I like this phone pretty much but a friend asked me to sell it off)
  9. SE 750i - On the my final Nursing results were out, handed my phone to the mentioned friend. Had to let go my best buddy V800 was history. Bought SE750i due to the idea of .2Megapixel camera. Had a tough choice between Se750i or W800. Money matters made the decision. I was kaput, so SE 750i for $450 i think... until today.

Out of the Blue

Was bored and browsed BruStu. Solidarity gave an inspiration to me when she posted a pix of me during the West Family day.

With only few hours and limited resources, I came up with this. Especially for BruStu.

Nurses go RAP in ER

Things getting bored day by day. Oh well, came across this one cool clip with nurses doing rap. hehe it's cool making me to ponder how cool nursing is and I'm gonna miss it!

Here's the lyrics;
Kaboom we’re the UAB emergency room
And we treat every single patient from the womb to the doom
Any kind of patient is accepted
Our skills are well perfected
We expect the unexpected
That’s why we’re well respected

We ER nurses
Medications we disperses
When things get the worse here
Our time is just mergers (cant seem to figure out what he said here)

Room 10 there’s a patient with a hurt in the belly
Look there goes the entrance with the KY jelly
Got a CAT Scan in Room 6
X-rays in Room 8
There’s a chest pain in Room 1
That really can’t wait
He’s got a positive history
Get the 12 lead EKG
Better draw from blood for lab work
When you start that IV

Got a migraine in Room 2
Room 3 has got the flu
Room 4 can’t poopoo
Room 5 is playing cuckoo
But the trauma’s on the way
Right into the trauma bay!

Work Placement and being jobless.

Since graduation day, I have been a jobless single person! Hahha, I know I sound so "grr" well cos I am.

So now, let's focus on the future. keh keh keh. I've been doing my placement at RIPAS hospital for few days now and It has been great so far. My supervisor is one cool lady and she;s running the department on her own as the senior is in the UK doing her Masters. So far she's able to manage the clinic in a way she could handle as a one lady show.

How's the placement? (A review)
--------------------
Well, it's fun and get to learn a lot. I've been digging information regarding the subject and the working environment. Podiatry has issues of it's own but relax, it is still a young profession here in Brunei.

Suprisingly, she also discussed of my future where I could end up and it's really motivating and a positive outlook (pay, career prospect and progression)I must say. However, I do not want to think of what's been said. All I know I need to get through the course first.

At the clinic, she introduced me to members of the staff around and met many patients. Again another suprising bit, they also cater for Psychiatric patients!

Today, was again a day! ahha. Yeah, I wasn;t feeling well but managed to arrive safely in RIPAS. Had briyani with Met and we had a chat about how I got into all these. So met few other frens and x-colleagues but didn't tell what I was doing there. ehehe.

Went to the clinic and there was no one. I thought I was early. Opened the door and get ready for a patient. It was strange to see nothing was prepared on the table and the surgery trolley was empty. Then came my supervisor and there she saw me sitting in boredom. Then she exclaimed with a smile "eh Diabetes Centre today" haha.. I had a good laugh, so I went to the said centre. There not much patient, only 2 diabetic patients.

Tomorrow it will be in Tutong. Yay! ehhe new experience.

So far I've started to be able to differentiate between nursing and podiatry. Both are noble professions. However, I have to say nursing is in a world on it's own. I remember my lecturer sais this "there is no otehr profession similar to the art of nursing". Honestly, by far nursing is more exciting and challenging as it involves the whole human body rather than one bit of the body. But again, looking at the foot as a complex organ, it is infact in a way looking as a whole body. There are lots of muscles, nerves, bones and vascular supplies in there alone where one has to memorise! DIE DIE! ahaha. But both equally I'M LIKIN IT! It's like between choosing a white bread and a wholemeal. hhehe

Oh well, I guess that's it for the moment. So far, good news from universities! eheh. Hopefully, things are gonna be ok for finance and funding insyallah.

Thanx also to PhantomS, Matron and yang sewaktu dengan nya for willing to be my lunch mates! ahaha. To Deny Hotdamn, thanx jua for willing to "come" although you couldn't make it. But nawaitu pun jadilah! ehhe. Kalau nada kamu, makan di jamban tah ku kali sorang2 hahaa.

Sani Kamis

here's a pix of the clinic.

TAggers:

C@T: hehehe you know what, havent had any bad experience like you said, smell and stuff. The antiseptic and solutions used erased all those and I like the smell. Not the feet but the clinic itself so fresh. But again no smell of feet YET. Maybe when it's time to deal with serious necrotic feet yet I'm looking forward for that. Won't be suprised cos have dealt with those cases before.

College of Nursing's 12th Convocation Day - My Graduation Day.

Yesterday will always be a history of my life. I finally graduated and able to call myself a nurse. Will I stop here? Definitely not! There are ways and I am already seeing the light at the very end of the tunnel. What will I do then? I will keep on searching for that light and shine it bright on my future.

The graduation - it meant something big to me in my life. It's time about appreciating all the pain and the gain I've made throughout my nursing life. Now it has come to an end. The graduation ceremony was slightly different from the previous years, which include they way the academic regalia are being worn etc.

On the auspicious day, I was announced as the winner for an award. I WAS SUPRISED! I got the "Best Leadership and Organisational Skills" award. wait... lemme laugh! hehhe.. am I or was I being organised then? Hahha I dont know. Oh well, at least my commitment and pain I've put has been paid now. Knowing people acknowledge that is another thing to appreciate.

The dinner was nevertheless great as well. Zool couldn't make it, so he gave mom his ticket. It was well organised and took place at the Rizqun International Hotel. It was great, so Empire-ish. Much better than Polo Club I'd say.

April 17th, I'll be starting my work placement at a department in RIPAS hospital. Days have been good as well for me. Had my uni's interviews - IN THE CAR over the phone hahah all the way from the UK. Got few places offering unconditional offers now. Oh well, will see how it goes then.

Anyways, my sincere congratulations to all friends, colleagues who graduated yesterday and Good luck to those graduating next year. DONT GIVE UP!

Best congratulations to fellow award winners too. Aminol, Nurul, Evelyn, you guys deserved the awards indeed!

To those well wishers, Thank you! It could not have happened without the support and endless prayers.

Signing off;
Sani Kamis

Days go by so fast.....

Today is just like any other days. The only difference is that, I am an unemployed person... feeling soo useless and unproductive.

Since the day I left the hospital as a student nurse, I always drive my days towards boredom. Oh well I'm just gonna look forward for better days to cme insyallah. It was fun working at the hospital especially at the Emergency Dept altho it was really tiring...

Last two days, I just got back from a week break... free from stressors and other heavy things to care about... just relaxing and having good time in Perth, Western Australia. Weather was superb! It was hot for the first two days followed by early winters and slowly decreasing in temperature.

Went to places I've had been to with frens and now taking Cathy and mom to those places. Transportation was damn blood suckers expensive! Should have rented car which is way far cheap! But thanx to Dina and Saiful for the great time there... and appreciation should also go to his mom and sister for welcoming us at their home for dinner that night.... which was our second night.

Food was great there, had wonderful time eating the famous Freo Fish and Chips, plus all the great fresh seafoods and fruits! YUMMEY!!!!

We also had great Italian cuisine along the trendy and posh street of Subiaco... courtesy of Naiza.. Kachu's old friend...She also took the time taking us out trying the famous spots like the waffles and gelatos... plus taking the trouble to take us to the airport... that saved us like $40!!

The apple struddle she bought for us was marvellous too!!!!!! gosh... it's just nice!

Now I'm back in Brunei thinking all about my future and plans... etc... but looking forward to a day... that is my graduation!! woo hoo...

picked up my suit today and sent the gown for dry cleaning... yay!!

The whole month of February 2006. Maybe not exactly..

It's been a long time I know since I last blogged. Oh well, duty calls, my socialising time etc made me so. ahhaha

How you guys been doing? I bet you'll do great... ehhe Assalamualaikum btw.

What's on February? (or what have I earned maybe)
-----------------------------------------------------

Number of scars : 4 (burn scars on my forehead and on my right hand)
Reason: Terperancit minyak menggoreng! iish.. *lame*

BruStu meetings: well maybe 2... Hotdamn and PhantomS

Social outings: countless! ahhaha

Number of working hours: infinitve maybe

Exhaustion meter : Alarmining!!

Happiness: undefined

Hatred: not as much.. ahhaha

miscellaneous: depending.. ahhaha

Ok.. haha enough of that.. lemme just blog with what I've done. hehe.. this is just for my future reference... hehe.. nothing about making the whole world knowing what I've been up to.. altho I may be vain at times.. ahaha

So what about social meetings I've been to?
--------------------------------------------

First, it was Tipah's (Cat's ITB fren) farewell gathering at Metadoe'. Although I'm not exactly her friend... but yeah.. I get well along with most of Cathy's ITB friends. Hehhe maybe that's just me being nice. The place was a good one, higjly recommended lepak spot and a gathering spot. They have good foods although to certain extent it's quite a limited choices of meal in the menu. But on overall I enjoyed it. plus point: the FRIENDS series sofa chair styel and the huge projection (on the wall outside) TV. Why farewell: Tipah continues her studies in Perth, Australia.

The one with Hotdam@BruStu: a unique meeting for a first time. She texted me early morning around 7am or so... and asking if I know where about is JPMC. Told her yes.. and if there's any spot we can meet up. Hehhe MOE it was. hahhaha This is the funny bit. Arrived exactly the promised time (along with Pinky).... and I passed by this car with a familiar looking lady in the car. (sweet in her baju kurung outfit, and the familiar face of course).... could that be her?

Reverse parked my car next to the mentioned car. Texted Hotdamn where is she and stuff, and just out of curiosity.. if the gal parked next to me was her? "Where are you? Im at MOE, I'm the one with brown vitara. Is ta you next to me?" hahaha... we turned out head in instant and ketawa! ahah

So took her to intended places then I had my break with pinky and other mates at Metadoe. heheh...

The very next day? WEST family day. really had fun there... loads of people, kids and FOODS!! GOOD FOODS!

Met Solidarity there and captured the moments with snaps of photos. eghhehe... *Camwhore-ing*

The next day. Met PhantomS: Went to Kate's thinking that I might apologize that I'd be late. guess what? I was there basically seated alone with a huge glass of lemonade! ahaha... Texting non-stop to PhantomS with fear that he may not turn up! ahahha... kacau.. tipu nya aku "Im at sungai teraban now" KURANG ASAM! ahahha.... we had a long chat and good makan time... well maybe some other time lagi ah! ahahaha... buleh.. we were both chatterbox! ahhaa

Work Life:
------------

As of 13th February, I moved to Casualty after finished covering my Medical rota!... that was a "phew" for me... well although I admit I learnt alot from that busy department... and had fun actually.

But Casualty? Not bad at all. First day was a lil wacky for me.. but yeah till date... it's a smooth ride. Been teaching the juniors as well. Funny thing? Enjoy working with Dr Faridah.. (everyone's especially students nightmares) but she's cool with me. She even personally requests me to be her nurse most of the time... regardless through phone calls etc. Had good time.. Im gonna miss her! SERIOUSLY! One thing I learnt from her (indirectly is that... PATIENCE and Persevere)

Now I have another 1 full duty week before I say good bye to Casualty and Hello FREE TIME! ehheh

My bread and butter for the month?
------------------------------------

I've been worrying to much.. more of being paranoid. Why? I'm going through uni application and scholarship. On summary: Im wishing for the best like anyone else does! wish me luck on that.

Future upcomings:
------------------

Will volunteer at the college with some administration stuff.. ehhe sumthing to earn good rapport with the people and work experience.... sumthing to make my CV and testimonial looking good.

Do a work shadowing : hopefully it's gonna be educational and fruitful.... and fun!

Uni stuff and scholarship: wishing to hear all the good news.. amin!

GRADUATION and FAREWELL!

becoming oficially unemployed qualified Nurse lah saya ni!

and of course... my holiday.... PERTH AUSTRALIA... here I come once more!

Hotdamn: hahaha bah nanti tah! ahaha

Is ta you next to me?" hahaha... we turned out head in instant and ketawa! ahah

I Not Stupid Too 2.

Heya folks!

It's 10.20pm. Today was basically my day off. Worked night shift last night. Terrible but smooth. An old man was possessed.... gosh.. and I had to handle it alone!!! But yeah... it was all fine.

Then, today... not much. As usual with how I would spend my day offs. I refused goin out with Kev for murtabak since I was already full besides... aku alum mandi that time.

Evening, Cathy texted me and asked me to join Jolene and her for a movie. I went on saying yes and met them at OGDC.

That was my first time going to OGDC cinema. Well not bad.. ehhehe... provided the spot you chose is a right one. But... paying and going all the way to the Mall to catch a movie still simply worth.

So arrived at OGDC a few minutes earlier than them. And I didnt even know what movie we're about to watch.

It was "I Not Stupid Too 2". Good movie, simply makes one to ponder and reflect. Not just a comedy genre, but really makes one to think about what we have done or have had gone through during our past. So I definitely would recommend the movie!

Macam it was like her own concert!!! Brava Karina!! and.... Faiz Nawi made appearance too with good vocal quality but not good songs tho!

Then came the long awaited time. IT's PETERPAN!! ahah.. I;m not a seriosuf an, but decided to go just for the fun and a weekend thing. And I enjoyed it to every bits of it! I enjoyed singing along and jumping to the music! It was great!

After concert around midnight, we headed to MAMIH... and all Mamih branches full! ahhhhea.. laku eh.. and we were lucky not to be caught in the traffic! ehhee.... Good strategy overall.

The day with CILOK in.

It was Wednesday the 4th, 2006.
-----------------------------------------

The night before was a hard time for me. I couldn't sleep. Insomniac attack.. and that's what I'm having at the moment again. Diana texted me saying that all studnets must come back to the college and get their flu jabs. I knew I wont be getting due to some reasons and I decided not to go as it would be just a waste of time. On a second thot maybe should go cos I can spend time with friends.

So, I went to sleep and in the sleep I was awakened by the tone from my phone. It says, "guys I'll pick u guys up tomorrow" from Pinky. So.. yeah.. without giving a second thot I replied "yeah.. see u tomoro". Adn that was around 10pm?

From that time onwards, I went online as I find it hard to get back to sleep. Went chatting online and jotting down points for my personal statement. Asked help from Lilac and yeah she made loads of ammendment. And time strikes 5.30am. And I was soo alert and eyes were still wide opened. I really got scared in a way Im gonna have "a day" coming morning.

Without sleep throughout the night, Pinky picked me up and we headed Bandar right away.

At the college.. there was nothing to do. I had a bad time with the librarian head and so I took off from the library pissed off! Madam came by and she asked me why I looked sad (i guess).. ehhe so I told her and she was kind of on my side.. cos she and her staff got pissed off too! So that passed...

Went to the Mall for lepak, went to DOME for brekkie. I had Croissant with Smoked Chicken and Mocha! ehhehe.. and as usual shots few pix.

Zool had his own problems... huge one... and I feel honoured that he confides his problem with me anyways. But yeah, it;s aint easy to be a listener especially when it comes to secretive things.

Later on, we went to the movies. No good movies that I could possibly find... then we ended up with "BAIK PUNYA CILOK" and on a rating 1-10 I'd say.. 7? Which is for me considerably good lah. But most of the times, I didnt get the joke or maybe I was just too knackered and sleep deprived. After the movies, stopped at Mamih and had nasi lemak then off we go back home.

At home, kachu called and we had a chat. Josh was on the phone as well. I really missed him already and of course the family. *sigh*.. can't wait for graduation cos they'll be coming!!

Around 7.30pm, got ready and went to Excapade to sushi. It was Carol's Birthday. We celebrated it in just a nice way. My ideal birthday celebration I'd say.. ehhe. 3 of them were already there enjoying their makan. hehhe and they fooled me by saying I must remove my shoes!!! THANK YOU.. embarassment major ku yo!!! An hour or so later, came the priest and his fren. So yeah.. we enjoyed the night.

Two words... "octopeace" and the "blowfish nemo" joke hahaha.. but yeah.. we had fun. Happy brithday Carol!

Oh btw, I got home before 11pm and neoighbour was sent to hospital emergency cos he fainted. hehe and the story... it's hilarious! ehhe (i know Im mean)

Today.
---------

Alright, today was the first day for my 11 weeks clinical placement before graduation which shouldn't be happening. I knew it's gonna be boring so I chose Surgical ward (my favourite) and since I just had my Medical rota.

The KB hospital management wasn't satisfied with the organisation of students distribution so we had a reshuffle. So to cut story short, I was sent back to Medical ward for 5weeks before going to Emergency Department for another 6 weeks. Yeah, to keep my motivation on, I kept on telling myself it's just gonna be 5 weeks before the fun begins! ehehhe.. Emergency... cos if I chose Surgical, I would be stucked in the ward for damn 11 weeks! ehehheh...

So, due to unpreparedness, I was a lil down and not fully devoted to my work. Venepuncture sucks for me... altho I got it ... just not as smooth... cos why? I WASNT HAPPY. I hope my days after this will be good, just the way I really am.. hehe.. I promise!

Had lunch with pinky at Kate's and I had Sirloin steak! woo hoo... yeah.. that's the highlight.. eheheh.

So yeah, Im signing out now.

Bye

What's for New Year and the following...

Assalamualaikum and Happy New Year to you folks.

First and foremost, belated Merry Christmas. During X'mas, nothing much came up, only went to Cathy's for her usual gathering. She got me a present which I thought was from Body Shop since the bag was from Body Shop. Later I found out it was a fotoframe on top of a mortar board (graduation cap) and the skull cap has a lower box to it. So it's like the mortar board is a cover to a box.... hmm you figure it out lah.. ahhahaha... I know I got it poorly explained.

NEW YEAR
--------------
31st December 2005 went by just like that. Nothing great happened or nothing fancy. I got few invitations to BBQ and parties around but I didnt feel like it. What I did was, just got online and rotten myself through the night. Thanks to some of the BruStuers owl who accompannied me through. And they were having the same "thing" as well. Hhhehe... such a "cool" thing to do for a new year's eve! ahaha.. *lame*

So on 2nd January 2005, Pinky organised a small BBQ party at the beach. Hehe it was fun as usual. This time 5 people turned up... well it;s not like no one came... but... that's the way it supposed to be!ahaha So we had smashin time together and met 2 people whom I "may" call friends... one of them is my fren tho.. just not making it obvious that s/he is not a fren of mine! ahahaha...

After makan, we jumped to the beach and vanity attacked! ahah.. we snapped few or rather loads of cool pixies as approved by many whom I shown the pix to. Well, I picked two which I would call it our best shots.

I guess that's it so far about New Year and all....

Anyhow, life is getting busier. I am currently busy with my applications and all, plus really appreciate the help from few people whom I should give a mention with the application directly or indirectly. Cathy, Lilac, Pinky and those of you out there, Thank you! ehhe...

Especially to Lilac who helped me out with the PS "makeover" hahaha you're da bomb! ehhe nanti ku blanja ko makan ABC!eheh....

So yeah peeps, maybe will do a good entry next time. cos it;s 4.26am now and I have not slept which tells me I only have 1 hour or so to get ready for BSB tomorrow morning! gosh...

I'll be starting my clinical again this Thursday at the SSBH's Surgical Ward! ehhe YAY.. my favourite!

Loads love

heya Peeps!

BruStu or Bruneistudent.com has reached to another milestone, that is BruStu Online Radio. So, what about?

Well it has been a dream of mine becoming a DJ or whatever related kind of work, news caster or weather report in that sense. So through BRuStu my dream has come true! eheh

It was all a coincident. I tried filling in empty slot, and it turned out to be pleasing to many brustuers. Due to their positive feedback, I came back and do a longer show. And yeah, alhamdulillah they like it more and more. I hope it will be progressively that way!

So yeah... I have a scheduled show starting tomorrow from 9am to 12noon Brunei time. My show is known as "Brustu Brunch Show with DJ xHu" hehehe.

The one with me buying GUITAR! aahah

Yo peeps, Assalamualaikum.

The day started with Pinky picking me up and followed by the rest of the crew. Biasalah the 4 of us. haha..

We headed to Malaysian Hicomm in Bandar to get Zool's stuff settled and we went to the wrong way on the way back. We headed straight to Yayasan school plang! ahaha.. thanx to our brilliant navigator DIANA! ahaha

From there, we makan at a new place called "Mulaut Grill". It's kinda like Ideal Cafe but nothing is similar. They have different menu and all. Best of all AYAM nya nyaman! The environment.. not bad. Macam those Halal fast foods di UK catu lah...

After makan, we went around Bandar sightseeing, snapped few piccies macam tourist! aahhaha... then I bought a Fenders brand acoustic guitar! wee hehhee...Zool and Kev will be readily to be my instructor! Thank you..

Went to Yayasan, roam around and looking at few stuffs around, as usual nothing nice to touch and feel. ahaha... So we headed back to the college.

I got my Recommendation settled but not yet ready. Maybe around a week or so. They were quite helpful on that note. I was like suprised by how supportive they are with my choice and all. So... yeah basically Im a step closer to my dreams.. ehhehe Before moving on, we went to Library while waiting and met Madam Suraya, my inspiration. We sat down and talked for quite sometime and it was really amazing having the chance talking to her. Many issues she discussed within the short period and the usual her to inspire one! Thanx madam!

Went to the Mall, lepak with the Bandar boys for teh tarik altho I had Kokoberry! aahha... we chatted a lil about studies, Rafie might be goin to Oz, some will be heading to the job market, some join the army, shell... and the list goes on and on. Good Luck guys! I really want to see all of us succeed!

Headed home later in the afternoon around 5, and now settled down tll the evening. I just woke up around 3am and now here I am blogging. Such a crap!!

Anyhow. Bye!!

I AM JOBLESS! ahha

Hello chaps! hahah.. wassap ladies and gents? ehhe

Right, today for a start, I went to Seria to settle some insurance stuff for mom. Later on, we had breakfast at CA Mohd and I had the long waited murtabak ayam... kebulur ku menunggu! ahahha...

After breakfast, passed by Thai shop and asked for the borneo bulletin. Checked the paper, wow... my article lah!! ahahha... and so... I texted few people saying about that and all. Suprisingly, they didnt change many, only few words and that's it! ahhaa... like... eh? I;ve improved with my English!! ahahhahaha... how I wish my school days were like tat! ahha except they changed the title. Originally it was "17th Intake Nurses: Ready to serve the nation."

So here's how the article goes:

Never mind long wait, be ready to prove your worth

First and foremost, I would like to congratulate all 17th Intake College of Nursing student nurses on completing their course, especially those who have successfully passed the exams.

Throughout the three and a half years of the course, I have learnt many invaluable things that many other professions would not be able to impart. At the outset, my colleagues and I had no idea on what nursing was all about and we had no clear idea why we joined nursing in the first place.

As semesters passed by, we started to have our own opinions and grew interests. We began to understand the science as well as the arts of nursing care to start with, and realised that nursing touches beyond its original scope.

During our clinical placements, it certainly impacted many of us in many ways, either socially, psychologically or professionally. The thirst for knowledge was also undoubtedly increasing and it made myself more motivated and to develop further.

Now, it has come to an end. Nevertheless, it is just the beginning. Lifelong learning and continuing professional education is no exception to nursing graduates. As technology progresses in the area of health and medicine, nurses have to equip themselves and be one step ahead to face the challenges.

Thus, nurses today must not be complacent and only motivated by incentives such as money and promotion, but also as a personal choice to develop their career.

Hence, I sincerely hope that the Nursing Education centre will develop and spread its wings in offering more courses such as Bachelors Degree and eventually PhD's locally.

Today, we have seen many fresh graduates are still waiting for employment. I certainly look forward to such a long wait too.

However, we must not feel let down by this. What is important for the nation is that, we are part of the country's assets as educated people in giving the best nursing care in the country and we must be ready to prove that.

On behalf of my intake, I would like to express our sincere gratitude and thanks to the lecturers, tutors and staff for believing in us and helping us to achieve our dreams in becoming Professional Registered Nurses. Not forgetting the nurses and doctors nationwide, who have taught us during clinical placements and we certainly owe you our sincere thanks.

To those colleagues who have not made it through, don't give up and you will finally make it! We will be definitely looking forward to our graduation in the upcoming convocation and be readily to serve the nation!

To the 17th intake student nurses, We Made It!

I've been planning to do that since years ago and made a promise on that. So yeah, it came true... ahha.. I did that in just few minutes as if I was blogging. It took me around 10 mins kali to compose and asked Lilac's help to proof read. And she said sumthing like "give it a go". So I did.. and sent a copy to Brunei Press! ehhe... As far as memory could recall, that was around 2am on a Monday night.

Later on today, had a buruk time and went online (as usual....) *yawn*... so got Kevin online.. ahah at the same time melayan texts from feedback about the article I posted. Many were saying like "kambang bulu" "proud" "good" and all... hehehe...

We had a usual chat about PUNANIS hahaha and about RUssell.. I dont know when we gonna quit talking about RUSSELL PETERS! ahhaha... LAter we headed WyWy for tea... I didnt eat.. was full only had Miloshake yet unable to finish.

It's over yet it;s just the beginning.

First of all, I would like to congratulate all 17th Intake College of Nursing Students for passing their final exams with flying colours. Guys... WE'VE MADE IT!!!!

Saturday 10th December 2005.
---------------------------------------

The most anticipated day among us. Why? rumours were telling that the results will be out. Yet, many including myself had no idea what to expect. We had a general assembly at the hall with all the usual blabbering, and it was said that the results will be released by noon of so. Suddenly, the Zimbabwean friend of mine ran to the hall shouting "I PASSED!" We were like.. what? you gotta be kidding!... and yes the results were out on the notice board. I ran outside... yet had the feeling of hesitation to look the notice board. What if my name was not listed? What should I do and all....

So there it was my name was listed!!! right away i turned around and looking at the crowd with tears and a big hug to my best mate Pinky... and she made it through too.. cos I saw her name first... along with my other mates. We were all in tears of joy. However, the tradition in an exam, there are failure who didnt not go through due to a way or another. Anyways, to them, my prayers will always be dedicated for their success and not to give up!

10.30am : the certificates from the board were issued... and some did not receive cos they have not cleared their fees and all. hehe... so yeah.. hehe I'm a Licensed Nurse. With that I can apply work anywhere as a nurse, or anything related here or elsewhere.

After that:
-------------

My mates and I headed to the mall for a lil celebration. It was so minimal pasal bajit kurang! ahhaha... but yeah it was somewhat special. I bought a new phone too! ahhaa. SE750i (just in case you out there got curious).

The very next day, hung out with Zool. Well he came in the early morning knocking on my window. I didnt realise he had texted me many times. So we went to Bandar and I got to drive Vios.. hehe for the first time. Along with us were his girlfriend and two cute girls!! ehhe...

I got myself contented with few stuff from Samuel & Kevin and a cheap polo from Giordano! ehhe... I really like the cargo pants from S&K.

Next?
--------

I have to fill in all the forms required, the SPA forms, CV and Resume. In addition to that, I have uni application to get done. Really looking forward for graduation sometime March or April. heheh

Today:
--------

Didnt do much, early morning went out with mom taking her to hospital twice for her blood samples. Then in the afternoon hung out with Kevin and Zool. Finally get to hang out with him. Hehe. So there we were at WyWy talking about some random stuff that guys would talk about! ahaha..

Both couldnt stop dragging me on the idea of getting drunk and sober! ahhaha... shite those two guys! ahhaha... My reply was "as far as I'm conscious, I wont be choosing alcohols, although I may go to Pubs and Clubs, but my choices would be Lemonade or Water!" hahha...

So yeah, we had a great time having nice teh tarik and all. Later, went off to OGDC for my usual brisk walking... ahha need to cut down weight really! haha... and I just got back really.

So there you go.

Before I end, I would like to express my sincere thanks to friends who has helped me in many ways, to those who supported me, teachers, family and colleagues and especially to those who sent the congratulatory messages. Thank you once again.

Regards
Sani Kamis

Today, the one with me jogging.

So hi ya peeps!

Today nothing much, as usual. Went to work (am shift) and I was quite pissed off with quite a few things around the ward. Hhaha... habis orang ku marahi! ahhaha... but I was cool anyways.

Looking forward for tomorrow's shift. As for now, it's my last day being around the clinical area as a student nurse. Not unless they will place us for the anotehr 3 mths!! yay.... 3 months for graduation... can't wait to put on the gown! ahha seriously!

But, at the same time, my heart will be start pounding hard! WHY? Results wah!!! ahah.. iatah had to go jogging tu... to make my heart muscles stronger.. or stronger Myocardium! hhahahhaha...

More updates about yesterday.

Assalamualaikum peeps! *wave* I guess I'm back with my regular blogging... well that's what I'm seeing at the moment... ahahha

So yesterday? I was just memburuk-ing at home and woke up late around 10am, in my room and having fun on my computer. Night time? I was at work.

At work: Did all the usual routine stuffs, then watched Flightplan and Desperate Housewives with a colleague over the counter as we chose not to sleep. So we watched while eyeing on the patients and the rest were sleeping till around 5am. It was all quiet and spooky.. hehe but what the heck, we enjoyed the night. It was basically my colleague and I running the ward smoothly. YAY.. we need no supervision no more.. we have our own clinical judgements. We finished all the tasks without being told and before they knew! ahahha.. *so proud*

The bad side: the staffs were taking advantage over us! and why not the other lazy students??? So my colleague and I decided this.... we should just leave before time... so let the "pemalas staff" pass over the report we've written... I DONT GIVE A DAMN!! ngalih sudah... on top of not sleeping throughout the night. One of our patients was dying, iatah we have to keep an eye. So we ran away lah.. heheh.. that was the best feeling. Ada jua yang inda buat kaja.. but still can balik at 6.15am! FUCK! But again.. he's not suprising to us at all.. andang pemalas atu jua bah..

hehhe.. so yeah... it's 1.15pm.. and yet.. I havent had breakfast or clean myself! aahhaa.. germs and microbial organisms are all over me! aahah...

What's on today? hmm prolly another session of memburuk.. *sigh*

hmm where was I? hahah... *wake up* ahhaha I was 12... ahhaha oh yes, I just had my circumcision! ahhaha.. sick. Nothing much while I was 12. I was still in form 2. Very eager to drive a car. Had trouble with History and sometimes Maths. But managed to escape all the way. I think, I watched my first porn here! ahahah... so yeah.. there you go.

2000. I was in SMSA. my first time stepping foot into a government school. Was really afraid with bullies and all since I heard so much. Insecurity was all there and all my grumblings with the facilities like toilets and all. But then, it turned out to be very very nice and fun. So memorable. I was doing my A levels and that time I started to have school mates who are girls. hahaha... Had crush on few people but never had the chane to say it out. Now most of my crush atu kawin udah!! hhahhaa.. *suck lemon* me dude! Here, I got more active in school activities. Joined few clubs and got more socialise with people. Got my self esteem on the rise as well. Met my old school frens from ugama school and some were my seniors. Went to UK with friends on a school trip. And that was the best among all! My first time being independent! woo hoo. Slowly becoming naughty too. Then I moved on to PreU2.

I was still in my second year as a student nurse. Having soo many knowledge on handling medical and surgical cases, I got more confident attending to my patients' needs. it was the best time. I had placements in the community, operating theatre (The Best) as I get to cut living human on the table LIVE! ehhe.. Carried out Appendicectomy (removal of the appendix) one on one with a surgeon, followed by many other major surgeries. Best feeling! Met many new people from different walks of life and many were great. Better friendship bonding with my intake and get to know them better. It was a year ago that I went to the UK for christmas with my sis. My first time flying alone and also to Aberdeen alone. feeling wise, it wasnt really great at all. But I had fun nevertheless, experience yo! So, I enjoy BruStuing too and got to know many people from there, Lilac <3, Mistress, Lina, Xeno, Sin Adam, Mofoster.. and many of the rest whom I already know and I;ve met these people already! ehehhe....
